I am now into my 5th year of running these retreats with the fabulous Kate Burford.
Both Kate and I are passionate about women’s well being and how important it is, not just on a personal level, but for our families, communities and our future, that women are healthy and empowered.
Each retreat is bespoke so while I can’t give specifics on future retreats yet here’s a flavour of our last one
We had four yoga classes, all very varied exploring how we can look after ourselves through our practice.
Three sessions in the studio with Kate, qui gong, do-in, self shiatsu, giving shiatsu, using oils and pressure points. A ginger compress treatment, receiving and learning how to give. A sea swim in Lamorna Cove (or paddle), breath work, half a day exploring the wonderful world of gut health which included a mindful breakfast. We had evenings by the fire and, led by the inspirational Susy Chaikin, we used art /creativity to heal, release and grow as well as to enjoy and share and to laugh!
We shared six meals around a wonderfully big farmhouse table. These were planned and prepared by Kate and I with much thought and love, using, as much possible, local and organic produce. We’re not chefs but both of us are long term foodies and I’d say we did a pretty good job serving delicious and super healthy food. So much important chat goes on around the table at all of these meals and they feel as important as any work we do in the studio.
The whole weekend is supported by the beautiful teas and remedies made by Janet Hay. This year we had ‘good for you hot chocolate’, a mushroom espresso shot, immune boosting elderberry syrup, gut health tincture and, of course many, many pots of nourishing herbs tea.
Rosemerryn, in Lamorna, provides the perfect setting. Nestled in the trees, a little hidden from the rest of the world it really allows a sense of retreat. Giving us the opportunity to have a complete escape from our increasingly busy lives and to rest and reflect. With big open fire place, comfy velvet sofas the big house feels like home really quickly.
